-- Tell me about your picture, please. -- You know! It's a Ninja turtle, and a city, and some stars. T., age 5 T. has a home now, a small apartment which he shares with his mother and sister. His life is still difficult. His mother works an early shift, and doesn't make enough money for her family to live on. T. has difficulty with school and difficulty getting along with other children. He lives in a world of superheroes, but occasionally his world is entered by other children: for example, his work was much admired when he used construction paper and glue to create an enormous Spiderman. The same is true of his sketches of Ninja turtles. |

-- It's an orange dinosaur! Don, age 4 Don doesn't remember anything about his abusive father, but he does know that his mom is still afraid. Mom has a job now, and a place to live, but Don can't seem to get over the past. He is considered a difficult child: constantly active, he loses his temper easily, swears, breaks toys. Yet he will settle down in a chair to listen to classical music, and one day he painted this wonderful dinosaur. |
