Individuals and groups can become involved with floaters on three different levels. At the first level, floaters provides a gallery for artists and writers to display and sell their work. For those who wish to commit themselves to learning about technology and art, floaters provides art workshops and help in learning about computers. At the third level, floaters will lend a computer, assist in getting an Internet connection, and provide training. Floaters members at this level learn at their own pace, then teach another member what they have learned. They receive upgrades of hardware and software as necessary for the learning paths they choose. Real-world skills are gained, and members tend to want to invest their own time and money in becoming even more skilled. Floaters is celebrating the success of the concept with an online exhibit which will consist of a portfolio and/or log from each group, family, and individual involved at this third level.

barb and family This link is to a web site entitled "In the beginning", written by Barbara and her 15-year-old son Paul, with help from the other members of the family. The family created all of the graphics, scanned the images, and wrote the HTML. Barbara has now been offered the chance to create a web site for pay, for a real estate agent.
